Actress Shiwani Chakraborty, who was last seen in ‘Shravani’, is happy to have bagged a good role in Star Plus’s next ‘Maati Se Bandhi Dor'.

Throwing more light on her role in the show she says,”Maati se Bandhi Dor is my upcoming show which will be airing soon on Star Plus. I am playing the role of the elder sister of the female lead. My character is quite complex, with layers that viewers will enjoy. Each character in the show has their own unique flavor offering viewers different personalities and storylines to get into the essence of the show which revolves around the concept of "Maati," symbolizing the struggles, successes, and challenges faced by the characters. As the eldest sister of the family, I will be going through challenges alongside my family. I can't reveal too much yet, but rest assured, the journey of the elder sister has its own unique twists and turns.”

Shiwani also adds,”The very first thing that comes to an actor's mind is, "I don't want to sit idle." Recently, my show "Sharvani" went off air on Shemaroo, and I was enjoying that role. However, when the story takes a leap, things change, and characters evolve. So, I had to take a break for a while. During that time, I was auditioning and doing look tests at various places. Some opportunities worked out, while others didn't. Then, this new show came to me through a friend Riyaz who is also a casting director. We've worked together on four shows before, and he's always been the one to finalize my roles. One day, he sent me a voice note about trying out for this new role, providing all the details. It sounded interesting and different, so I decided to audition. Eventually, I got a call for a mock shoot. The interesting thing is, the character brief I received initially was completely different from what was eventually decided for the show. Everything, from the character traits to the way I played the role in the mock shoot, changed completely. As an actor, my job is to adapt, so I took up the challenge and went with the flow. Despite the changes, I enjoyed the process.”

According to Shiwani the USP of the show is actor Ankit Gupta who plays the main lead. She says,”He naturally brings his own audience, who are already inclined to watch whatever he's involved in. Additionally, our lead actress Rutuja Bagwe comes from the Marathi industry, and the actress playing my mother's role has a background in repertory from NSD. Even our other supporting male actors are from the Marathi industry, contributing to the richness of our cast. Our storyline, beautifully written by the writers, has layers that will appeal to viewers. While some might find the theme familiar, as it deals with life's challenges, it's the depth that will resonate with audiences. This time, we're focusing on "Maati," something often overlooked despite its important role in providing food.” Shiwani also shares an important aspect of the show. “Our directorial team's approach is to keep the authenticity. So they have instructed actors to be as natural as if they were in their own homes. This authenticity in shot taking and scene gives our show a genuine feel, making it stand out from typical serial dramas. While TV shows naturally have some dramatic elements, ours maintains a cinematic quality, providing a natural and authentic rural feel , which is also a USP of our show.”
